Successful Schools, Successful Students
Successful schools, successful futures
Schools within the Midland Academies Trust aim to be amongst the best in the country. For students who attend our schools, this means:
Inspirational learning and teaching
The Midland Academies Trust values its teachers, leaders and support staff. Continual professional development is a priority to enable staff to become the best they can possibly be. The Trust is committed to ensuring that all its leaders and teachers deliver inspirational learning and teaching to ensure all students at all phases of education flourish and achieve their full potential. The Trust provides innovative opportunities for staff development and progression, including special projects, leadership opportunities across the Trust and with partners, secondments, training, mentoring and coaching.
A dynamic, shared curriculum
The Trust’s schools share a curriculum strategy that mirrors local and regional skills priorities and the specific needs of local communities. The model drives academic excellence and progression of students and also offers opportunities for students to reach the highest levels of practical and technical performance. It is designed to get the very best out of all our students.
Improved outcomes for students
Nationally, academies are surpassing state maintained schools in terms of progress. All schools within the Trust can show demonstrable progress against key performance measures since joining the Trust. For example the George Eliot School has improved GCSE results including English and maths for four years running, which have increased by 34% since joining the Trust. Measures to increase the rate of individual student progress and attainment are regularly reviewed and refreshed in order to support continuous improvement.
Leading change and innovation in education
Schools within the Trust are using the new academy freedoms to drive forward innovation and improvement through creating the right curriculum offer for their school community and sharing their experience of delivery with each other. This includes an extended school day, work placements, personal coaching, extra-curricular activities and a non-timetabled session for study support. These initiatives are tangibly raising students’ aspirations and achievements.
