Year 10 Houses of Parliament Trip for Heath Lane Academy

60 Heath Lane Pupils enjoyed a trip to London to view the nation’s capital from the London Eye and were guests at the Houses of Parliament. Pupils were excited about their bird’s eye view of London, many of them never having been to London and most of them for the first time on the London Eye. Pupils felt honoured to be welcomed to the Houses of Parliament, and saw a landmark debate underway in the House of Commons, about whether to give voting rights to 16 year olds. We couldn’t think of a more relevant experience for our pupils, many on the edge of being 16 themselves. And on the journey home there was much fun, music and laughter as the coach became a party bus, with Mr Gilbride being the DJ and increasing the musical knowledge of our pupils.
