MAT Alumnus is Apprentice of the Year

A MAT Alumni has recently been awarded the prestigious NIT Apprentice of the year award

Luke Sanders, previously the deputy head boy at Hartshill School, won the award for NIT Apprentice of the year.

In their citation for this award Luke's managers at Aldi's national headquarters gave a for a number of reasons for his nomination, including:

  • being very positive and hard-working,
  • using his initiative,
  • being committed to improving the department and finding cost savings,
  • and generally delivering great work.

He has been offered a permanent role within Aldi and is already working his way up the career ladder!

Luke was a founder member of the Hartshill Geek Squad - a group of IT students who worked with both national IT companies such as e4Education and local junior schools to develop and improve their websites and e-presence.

Alan Wheelhouse, Luke's former teacher said " I am not surprised that Luke has gone on to such a fantastic award,  he always had a superb work ethic and was always totally focussed on the needs of the client"

The Trust  which is proud to be working with Aldi as a major employer partner contacted Luke to get his reaction to this award, his proud dad said " I'm sure that Luke would love to tell you all about this but he's gone to Mexico to celebrate!".  Well done Luke.
